Joh 18:38a Pilate saith unto him, What is
truth?
Everyone wants to
know truth. But truth can be
elusive in a postmodern society.
TRUTH, n. 1.
Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has
been, or shall be. The truth
of history constitutes its whole value. We rely on the truth of the scriptural prophecies.
Webster’s 1828
A naturalist might
misinterpret reality by ignoring the spiritual, whereas a transcendentalist
might ignore the physical. A
dualist considers both in the analysis of history, the present, and
prophesy. Without an external
standard, truth is no more than an expression of personal opinion. Jesus claimed to be that Standard.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way,
the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
