• Community Marriage Policy. God is moving in America to strengthen marriage
  and reduce divorce. Community Marriage Policies are now in place in 170 cities
  nationwide. An independent research firm compared the divorce rates in 131 cities
  for the three years before the policy was implemented to the rates for three or more
  years after its implementation. Divorce rates dropped in 70% of those communities.
  Nine cities reported a drop of more than 50% and 27 cities showed declines of 20%
  or more. A Community Marriage Policy for Alamogordo has been in effect since Sep 2001.

  Sexually oriented businesses (SOBs) fan the flames and then we need
  laws to control the offenders. Why not make laws against the SOBs

  Legislative bodies - villages, cities, townships, counties - not only have the right but have the duty to protect its citizens from these harmful secondary effects. Such legislative protection can be passed in the form of zoning ordinances, licensing procedures, permit requirements and operational regulations. All these legislative tools are needed to make it extremely unattractive for SOBs to open in a community.

  David H. Solomon, chief of the FCC's enforcement bureau, said in the ruling that Bono used the vulgarity as an adjective or to emphasize an exclamation and that "the use of specific words, including expletives or other 'four-letter words' does not render material obscene." Laura Mahaney, director of corporate and entertainment affairs for the Parents Television Council, has vowed an appeal. "The ruling is outrageous. It's splitting hairs," she said. Activists said they fear the FCC's ruling will allow the f-word and other vulgarities to become more common in prime-time television. www.parentstv.org
  
  Do not be deceived. These words are not meaningless. I personally received military discipline from the commanding general of the AF Safety Center, Kirtland AFB, about six years ago for transcribing the dictionary definition of the f-word after listening to months of the Division Chief Colonel use this word "as an adjective or to emphasize an exclamation." Interesting how the definition can be offensive yet the word itself is not supposed to be offensive. The Division Chief was also admonished to clean up his language.
  
  ACTION:
  * Write the sponsors of programs that use offensive language.
  * Write the FCC and ask them to enforce obscenity rules.
  * Monitor the TV for your children or turn it off.
