PRINCIPLE – the source or origin of anything;
a general truth, a truth so broad and sweeping that
many other truths can be considered offshoots of it
PRAYER – I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and
for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life
in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight
of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto
the knowledge of the truth. I Tim 2:1-4

Veterans Day. A PRAYERFUL VETERANS DAY by H.B. London Jr.
This coming Tuesday, we will commemorate Veterans Day. The day was first designated in 1918 as "Armistice Day" — a time of remembrance for all veterans. In 1978, Congress set the official Veterans Day as November 11. In our divisional meeting this week, one of our staff members suggested using this coming Sunday, as a day of remembrance, not only for our beloved veterans, but as a special day of prayer for our servicemen and women stationed around the world. We thought it would be very appropriate for congregations to recognize those who at one time wore the uniform of the various branches of service, as well as family members of those presently on duty — a time to read appropriate scripture, to have testimonies from those who have been protected in battle, to pray by name for those in your congregation who are in the military. And if you happen to have any service personnel present, either in the reserves or on active duty, you could call them forward to represent their comrades. It seems that every day, another member of the coalition forces in Iraq is killed or maimed. Most of these men and women are Americans. We cannot allow ourselves or our congregations to grow calloused or unmoved by the evils and the consequences of war. Please call your people to extraordinary prayer this Sunday! Make Veterans Day weekend a time of remembrance and prayer.

Here is more information on the special talk scheduled for next Wednesday, Nov 12 at 7:30 p.m. It will be held in Room 407 of the Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church's Adult Education wing. The church is at Academy and Moon. I think the information will be extremely interesting. Dr. Ed Holroyd, research scientist for the BLM, will present his lecture "Memories from Babel" that examines cultural evidences and memories from several places in the world (primarily east Asia) that match things in early Genesis. These are in agreement with the idea that, when people dispersed from Babel, they took with them memories of the prior events. Of course, sin and forgetting distorted these traditions, but remnants remain to modern times. The talk climaxes with the examination of Genesis themes preserved in the ancient and modern Chinese characters. He will conduct a question and answer session after the lecture in which he can discuss most creationist topics of interest.
During this session, Dr. Holroyd will offer some current information on the search for Noah's Ark and for the real Mt. Sinai. His update will include views of candidate mountains in JPEG format and fly-around 3D simulations in MPEG format. He uses satellite images at three meter resolution in stereo, so individual trees can be seen. He will discuss the challenges on each mountain. Dr. Holroyd's collection of Biblical era coins will also be exhibited (the exhibit ca be reviewed at www.ccu.edu/biblicalcoins). Dr. Holroyd is a creationist investigator and author. He contributed to the book In Six Days: Why Fifty Scientists Believe in Creation. As you can see, this will be an exciting evening. This information shows how science can be resolved with Scripture. Remember, the intent is to better understand God's Creation, so as to better glorify Him.
Dr Holroyd is also available to speak on Thur evening. If you know of a group interested in hearing him on Thur evening, call 237-1290 or 292-5819.
NM Legislation Special Session ended last week. Gov Richardson signed an Omnibus Sex Offender Bill - HB2 http://legis.state.nm.us/session03s.asp?chamber=H&type=++&number=2
Laws are also needed against sexually oriented businesses (SOBs) that fan the flames of sex offenders. www.ccv.org/What_is_a_Sexually_Oriented_Business.htm
Legislative bodies - villages, cities, townships, counties - not only have the right but have the duty to protect its citizens from these harmful secondary effects. Such legislative protection can be passed in the form of zoning ordinances, licensing procedures, permit requirements and operational regulations. All these legislative tools are needed to make it extremely unattractive for SOBs to open in a community.

Senate Memorial (SM5) to Dr King Sanders. This is a "wow" memorial. I have copies of a manual for Christian involvement Dr Sanders wrote in the 90s. http://legis.state.nm.us/Sessions/03%20Special/memorials/senate/SM005.html
Part of the memorial reads: "WHEREAS, he became an active participant in New Mexico state politics representing the Christian community, and he was a very successful liaison for the Baptist convention of New Mexico to the New Mexico legislature for over twenty years." You can thank Mary Kay Papen for introducing this memorial: http://legis.state.nm.us/senatedetails2.asp?District=38&Submit=Search
Voters Reject Unification Charter. Approximately 39% of voters responded to the mail-in ballot that cost about $300,000 more than an election at the polls according to Michael Brasher who spoke to the Singing Arrow Neighborhood Association on Nov 6. Over $1,000,000 will have been spent on the commission study and elections that could have been used in the community. A new commission will be appointed to draft another proposal. What does it take to tell our elected officials we've had enough?
Biblical principles prevail. "Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens." Ex 18:25 Today, those numbers would correlate to nation, state, county, and city. Our Founders applied this principle in establishing hierarchy of government. Fewer levels of government are more efficient. However, the sinful nature of man demands accountability. Liberal philosophy tells us that man is by nature good and getting better. This is a foundational philosophical difference in how we structure government. If man is good, then the best government would be one-world. If man is sinful, we need to keep national, state, county, and city government.
www.khouse.org/articles/prophetic/19991101-174.html - Chuck Missler discusses the increasing international movement towards a one-world-government and the prophecies in Revelation that concern a coming world leader - the anti-christ.
www.khouse.org/articles/political/19970301-90.html - D.L. Cuddy and John Loeffler detail the long and secret history of a formal, deeply rooted organization dedicated to achieving a one-world government, or a New World Order.
