It is reported that Noah Webster's 1828 American Dictionary contains the greatest number of Biblical definitions given in any reference volume. Webster considered "education useless without the Bible." Noah Webster believed that the Bible and Christianity played important roles in the lives of a free people and its government. "In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government, ought to be instructed.... No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people...."

PRAYER -
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and
for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life
in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight

For over one hundred years Americans have not known or learned of America's Christian History. Five generations of Americans have produced a national ignorance concerning the Providential founding of this nation and of God's hand in preserving, defending, and leading the Colonists to victory in 1773-1781-the seven long years of the American Christian Revolution. Today we have no proud heroes-no models of character, or leadership, to inspire our youth. We have no identity for courage, conscience or compassion, to cherish as part of the proud fabric which a people weaves into its character and tradition. The reason is not that we do not possess such a treasury of greatness and heroism. The reason is that we have allowed our treasury to be robbed and pillaged of its gold-the gold of Christian character. In so doing we have lost our vision of the destiny and purpose of God 's America.
One hundred years ago we took education out of the Christian home where it had raised up men and women who were God-fearing, Christ-honoring, Bible-loving people. People who were willing to count the cost of Christian liberty. Yielding to the arguments of secularism in the 1830's, 40's and 50's, we permitted our churches to relinquish their leadership of Christian education. In making this change into the government sponsored schools, we closed our Bible as the educational and political textbook, and we shifted our level of education from the building of individual Christian character to the building of a group character, conformable to society. As we shifted from a God-centered republic to a man-centered democracy-we began to flounder.
Today, while the signs of the times seem most disheartening, there is evidence that the overturning, overturning, overturning, is taking place. Our unique heritage and founding has again been brought to light and some Americans are remembering their Christian heritage. Some Christians are again raising the standard of character and conscience of our Pilgrim, Puritan and Patriot heroes and heroines. The conservative revolution of our times is in effect a Christian revolution. It will force us ultimately to awaken from our national apathy. It will inspire us to build up our individual defenses, and so to strengthen our citadel of freedom-which is the mighty fortress of Christianity itself.

Exposing Islam by Mark Ortega
Many people are shocked about the current eruption of violence, wars, and conflicts in the Middle East. When you turn to the news there seems to be constant surprises about what is going on. It's almost like the media thinks we should be surprised about what is going on. Any person that knows Middle East history and current events should not be surprised about what is going on. The conflict goes back to biblical times.
Genesis 16:1-20
God had promised Abraham a son through which all nations would be blessed. Because of his wife Sara and his impatience he had a child with his handmaid Hagar. That son was Ishmael. Eventually he did have a son with his wife Sara named Isaac through which all the nations of the world have become blessed.
Abrahamic branches:
1. Ishmael - father of Arabs, lineage to Muhammad leading to Islam.
2. Isaac- patriarch of Jews, lineage to Jesus Christ leading to Christianity.
Because of Abraham and Sara's impatience through Ishmael many of the conflicts of the Middle East and world have occurred. (Do you think Abraham and Sara would have been so impatient if they knew what it would lead to?) In Genesis 16:12 an angel of God prophesied what Ishmael and his ancestors would be like. The Bible mentions what are called Ishmaelites. But they did not become a problem in the world till centuries later.
The descendants of Ishmael were recorded to be pagans. All over the present Arab world their ancestors practiced various pagan religions. In 570 AD Muhammad was born. In 610 AD he believed that he was called to be a be a prophet. He told people that there was no God but Allah and he (Muhammad) was his prophet. In 622 AD in what Muslims call the Hijra Muhammed emigrated or was exiled from Mecca to Medina. In 630 AD Muhammad returned to and violently conquered Mecca. Since the time of Muhammad Islam has been a religion of offensive wars where they force people to convert to Islam or they are oppressed. This oppression has consisted of the option to convert or die. Another option is a poll tax or Dhimma. This tax is where a submission tax is imposed on non- Muslims. The Christian organization Voice of Martyrs (www.persecution.com) reports that Christians in Muslim dominated countries are constantly persecuted for their faith. Christians are oppressed all the time in these countries. Their property is also confiscated. Christians in these countries are refused basic human rights. Muhammad went so far as to say that if someone converts from Islam the penalty is death. That's why the whole concept of Jihad is nothing new to Islam.

Celebrate at the Annual "Walk For Life" Sep 9
Every year Care Net supporters, volunteers and friends celebrate the sanctity of the life of the unborn and at the same time raise funds for the ministry by taking a brief Saturday morning stroll. This year we will have four walk locations on Saturday the 9th of September. The theme for our walk is "Exercise Daily, Walk For Life".
As you probably know, there are many people who want to help women choose life. Unlike you, they don't feel that they have the time to become actively involved. Maybe they feel they don't have the financial resources to make any difference. The Walk For Life is an opportunity for everyone; youngsters, teens and those with limited time or resources to contribute to the life saving work of the Care Net ministry. All it takes is a little planning and the courage to ask people for a pledge. Last year one walker collected pledges and contributions totaling over a thousand dollars. None of her pledges were over $50. Her key was asking a lot of individuals to support the needs of single women raising children. Another example is the year that a man in a wheel chair raised a large sum of money.
The pledge forms are available now at your local center. Pick up several and hand them out to the people who encourage and pray for you in your ministry with Care Net. Ask the teenagers or youth pastor from your church if they would like to be involved in supporting your ministry by participating in the Walk For Life. See if your Sunday School Class would take this on as a one day project. Some people are sympathetic but the walk conflicts with other commitments. They can still participate by filling out the form and collecting pledges. The forms can be turned in to their local Care Net office at their convenience. Your involvement makes a huge difference.

Local Pastor Caught Up in Bogus Legal System
A NM pastor was recently fired because of his involvement with common law and subsequent entanglement with the IRS. Court cases of this nature typically enrage the judge and appeals are denied or fail to exonerate the accused. Participation with common law groups is appealing because of references to Christianity, but beware ... they're nothing more than cults. This article is written to highlight the insidious nature of the common law movement, not to disparage the actions of the pastor.
Principles CINews carried several articles in past months regarding presence of a growing body of pseudo-law in various locations of the country. The idea was at first innocuous but then of growing concern because of legal consequences. A common law group continues to operate in Albuquerque. They advocate legal sovereignty including tax evasion. They claim individuals can win cases by accusing court officials of treason against the Constitution. The book Christian Faith and the Truth Behind 9/11: A Call to Reflection and Action, by David Ray Griffin, a professor emeritus of theology at Claremont School of Theology, adds to the confusion. Griffin's book was recently published by Westminster John Knox Press-a division of the denominational publisher for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Christianity Today gave a fairly balanced review of the book. Griffin claims the events of 9/11 were staged by the government. Though more speculation than fact, Griffin's book continues to stir a misinformed public transfixed by Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 (read FOF movie review).

Character Doesn't Count (Sometimes)
Albuquerque Presbyterian Healthcare Services (PHS) reportedly hired Joseph Calvaruso for a Senior VP position. Calvaruso resigned as CEO from Carmel Health System, Columbus OH following an investigation regarding behavior of the CEO and two other top officials during a company training program. The System's parent, Trinity Health, Novi., Mich., found they had engaged in behavior that was "inappropriate and inconsistent" with the organizations' values, Trinity said. The system's corporate compliance department received complaints about their behavior at a management retreat, Trinity spokesman Steve Shivinsky said. Will Calvaruso attempt to bring his brand of "diversity" to PHS?
The retreat was based on the Higher Ground training program developed by Canadian author Lance Secretan to infuse spirituality into the workplace. According to the Columbus Dispatch, the executives swapped clothing and demonstrated their attire before attendees at the event. Shivinsky declined to describe the inappropriate conduct but said it was not a sanctioned part of the retreat. "We conducted a thorough review and found the behavior neither silly nor trivial. It was not a 'walking in someone else's shoes' exercise as has been described," Shivinsky said. Tracy Gilmore (519 927-5213) confirmed from her experience that the program contained nothing that would have even remotely resembled such behavior. Their behavior was clearly a result of personal initiative and significant enough to require resignation. Apparently, character doesn't count for PHS, at least in hiring.
