God
has established governments as ministries to provide order in the
nations so that we are able to share the good news of Jesus Christ with
the
world to further the Great Commission. He is sovereign over
the nations and
removes leaders and establishes leaders as He wishes. In our
country He has
given us the privilege to vote for candidates from which our leaders are
elected. As citizens of heaven and of this country we are to
pray and to
vote wisely.
On May 1, 2008 we had a meeting with Dr. Rick Scarborough, President of
Vision
America, with a goal of enlisting 1,000 pastors and
priests in New Mexico to have non-partisan voter registration drives at
their churches and encourage their members to vote in the 2008
elections. Vision
NM has been set up to assist with election information in NM.
The voter registration deadline for the general election is
Oct 7 (NM
SOS Voter Registration Information).
You can help us with these non-partisan voter registration drives by
emailing me the names of pastors and priests in New Mexico and their
churches along with their mailing addresses, phone numbers and email
addresses and letting me know if you would be willing to volunteer to
be trained as a voter registrar for your church.
From the ADF
letter for pastors and priests:
"In addition to information on Elane, good information for yours and
Mr. Scarborough’s efforts to recruit Pastors is in the
attached letter. This letter, specifically authored for Pastors in
January 2008, provides them with concrete legal advice that they do
have a political voice, and can speak out without fear.
Moreover, our advice comes with a promise—'If you
are contacted by any government official or private activist group on
such issues, please call us immediately. The Alliance Defense
Fund’s attorneys will promptly review your situation and make
every effort to defend your church’s legal rights to speak
freely in support of important social and moral issues.' "

Remember the Fourth
Celebrate Independence Day - safely and in memory of our founding principles.
On July 2, 1776, Congress voted to approve a complete
separation from Great Britain. Two days afterwards – July 4th
– the early draft of the Declaration of Independence was signed,
albeit by only two individuals at that time: John Hancock, President of
Congress, and Charles Thompson, Secretary of Congress. Four days later,
on July 8, members of Congress took that document and read it aloud
from the steps of Independence Hall, proclaiming it to the city of
Philadelphia, after which the Liberty Bell was rung. The inscription
around the top of that bell, Leviticus 25:10, was most appropriate for
the occasion: “Proclaim liberty throughout the land and to all
the inhabitants thereof.”
