Dan 2:21-22 And He changeth the times and the seasons: He removeth kings, and setteth up kings: He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: He knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with Him. |
Give Me Liberty
or Give Me …
What’s so special about freedom that
causes a North Korean family to flee 3,000 miles through China hoping to gain
asylum in South Korea? See the PBS
program Crossing
Heaven’s Border. Most people
have no IDEA the blessing of freedom we have in America. With that freedom comes
responsibility. “We have no government armed with
power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and
religion…. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious
people. It is wholly inadequate to
the government of any other.” John
Adams “Bad men cannot make good
citizens. It is when a people forget
God that tyrants forge their chains.
A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is
incompatible with freedom. No free
government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people but
by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and
virtue; and by a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles.” Patrick Henry Liberty Rooted in Self-Government. Noah
Webster College presents “Lessons in Liberty” – Indispensable
Tenets of Self-Government. Our goal
is to return to the fundamental principles our Founding Fathers literally
fought for and lived for. This
seminar will focus on how liberty is manifested in our life, property, and
through self-government. History has
shown that only when a people are individually self-governed are they truly
free. Self-government is rooted in
Biblical principles. When our souls
are yielded to God, we are free from the chains that bind. Registration and workshop

“state of mind” when the crime was committed. Now it is morphing into definition of the crime itself. Coral Ridge Ministries DVD (2009), “Hate Crime
Laws,” provides background on a case where a Christian witnessing to a
homosexual was later arrested and charged with a hate crime carrying a
possible one-year sentence. Resources and
Policy Articles on Hate Crimes Legislation Hate crimes legislation is really "thought crime"
legislation because it penalizes politically-incorrect beliefs, attitudes,
and thoughts, rather than actual crimes. FRC abhors violence against anyone,
but opposes "thought crime" legislation because it undermines the
freedom of speech and religious belief that is at the heart of our democracy. Written
Testimony Prepared for the Senate Judiciary Committee June 23, 2009 The Hate Crimes legislation would authorize the Department of
Justice to investigate and prosecute certain bias-motivated crimes based on
the victim's actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender, gender identity,
or disability. Even more troubling is that S.909 could create special
protections for pedophiles. Democrats voted down an amendment to the bill
that would have excluded pedophilia and other "sexual orientations"
from the definition of "sexual orientation." It is likely that the bill will be
introduced as an amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill. If the
Senate approves the Hate Crimes amendment, President Obama will sign it into
law.http://www3.capwiz.com/afanet/callalert/index.tt?alertid=13736111

States,’ was written by a team of 31 scientists at U.S. universities and
federal agencies. It is part of an effort to bring together the latest
climate change data for government officials. University of New Mexico
climate researcher Joe Galewsky, who was not involved in the project, said
the report is consistent with a growing body of evidence that has left little
doubt among scientists about the reality of climate change and the need to
reduce greenhouse gas emissions in response.” http://www.abqjournal.com/news/state/17227411632newsstate06-17-09.htm There IS another side to the story: “The number of skeptics, far from shrinking, is swelling.
Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe now counts more than 700 scientists who disagree
with the U.N. -- 13 times the number who authored the U.N.'s 2007 climate
summary for policymakers. Joanne Simpson, the world's first woman to receive
a Ph.D. in meteorology, expressed relief upon her retirement last year that
she was finally free to speak "frankly" of her non-belief. Dr. Kiminori
Itoh, a Japanese environmental physical chemist who contributed to a U.N.
climate report, dubs man-made warming "the worst scientific scandal in
history." Norway's Ivar Giaever, Nobel Prize winner for physics, decries
it as the "new religion." A group of 54 noted
physicists, led by Princeton's Will Happer, is demanding the American
Physical Society revise its position that the science is settled. (Both
Nature and Science magazines have refused to run the physicists' open
letter.) The collapse of the "consensus" has been driven by
reality. The inconvenient truth is that the earth's temperatures have flat-lined
since 2001, despite growing concentrations of C02. Peer-reviewed research has
debunked doomsday scenarios about the polar ice caps, hurricanes, malaria,
extinctions, rising oceans. A global financial crisis has politicians taking
a harder look at the science that would require them to hamstring their
economies to rein in carbon.” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124597505076157449.html

Federal Health Care
Reform – Abortion Agenda
WASHINGTON
(July 8, 2009) – The Obama White House and Democratic congressional leaders are
pushing hard for votes in late July on massive "health care reform"
bills that contain provisions that would vastly expand access to abortion on
demand, override state abortion laws, and establish federal funding of
abortion. Leading
pro-abortion advocacy groups, including the Planned Parenthood Federation of
America (PPFA), NARAL, the National Abortion Federation, and the Religious
Coalition for Reproductive Choice, have made statements in recent days
admitting that they hope to mandate "access" to abortion for
"all women" through provisions of national health care
restructuring legislation. So
far, two massive health care bills have been unveiled, one in the Senate and
one in the House. The full House is expected to vote on its version of the bill
at the end of July. Senate floor action could occur shortly thereafter. http://www.capwiz.com/nrlc/issues/alert/?alertid=13157881&type=CO

<frstephen@defendinglife.org> Subject: Help needed for Gabriel (Moms) Ministry We
(Project Defending Life) are now
helping over 3 dozen moms who have chosen life for their babies. We have had
over a dozen babies born this year and literally dozens of turnarounds at
Planned Parenthood. We have an average of 10 moms attending our "earn
while you learn" parenting classes each Wednesday. But we need help.
Please see below and pray about helping us as part of our Gabriel (moms)
Ministry in some way. As you can see, we will provide all the training you
will need, but in reality, you only need to love Our Lord and His children!
See below! Those
called to offer support, hope and love to our moms are truly blessed by our
Lord. The Gabriel Project of Project
Defending Life is a life-giving ministry to these moms. Our Lord has turned many hearts of the
abortion minded pregnant women to choose life for their babies. In order to continue to offer individual
attention and love to each of our moms we need more workers in our Lord's
Gabriel ministry. Please see more at
The Gabriel Project at www.defendinglife.org. We
invite you to come to our next Gabriel information and training session at
the PDL Center at 625 San Mateo NE. Friday, July 17th 6:30-8:30 and Saturday, Jul 18th 9:00-3:00. Please call the office at 266-4100 or

on Cyber Stalking – Part III of III
“Cyber Stalkers
Lurking?” by Mark Ortega On Wednesday, March 11th,
at the UNM Continuing Education building, the city of Albuquerque sponsored a
seminar on cyber stalking. The Albuquerque Police Department, local and
national offices of the FBI, and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department
cosponsored the conference with the city. Mayor Martin Chavez was the main
speaker. In New Mexico, law enforcement is trying to catch up with cyber
crimes. Sandia Labs are helping local law enforcement fight cyber crimes too.
New Mexico lawmakers are presently trying to implement laws to combat cyber
crimes. Yet our kids are vulnerable because of our ignorance. Quick Facts: 1) What
is an online predator? An internet user who exploits
vulnerable people for sexual or financial gain. 2) What
is online child sexual exploitation? Exposing children to unwanted sexual
content or unwanted material online or unwanted requests for sexual
conversations. 3) What
does “grooming” mean? Building a relationship with the
intended victim by getting them to trust the predator, enticing or convincing
the victim to open up to the predator and share information. 4) What
is cyber bullying? Using communication technologies to
support deliberate repeated and hostile behavior by an individual or group
that is to harm another person. 5) How
are online predators reaching my children? Chartrooms, Game rooms, message
boards, networking sites like My Space and Face Book, Instant Messages,
emails, chain letters, newsgroups and cell phone texts are all avenues for
predators to contact your kids. 6) What
should I do if my child has received a sexually explicit email or other type
of message? Contact the Albuquerque Police
Department at 924-6000 or the Bernalillo Sheriff’s Department at 768-4100. In conclusion, the internet has many
things to offer. There is an endless stream of info to process. It is an
excellent tool for learning. Yet it also has opened up a new world. A world
where there are unlimited possibilities. Good and bad at our fingertips. The
world is vastly changing with these changes. It’s time for parents,
grandparents, adult relatives and concerned adults to wake up. Wake up to the
reality that these changes have put our children in danger. We must become
educated to the internet and its technology. We must become like the diligent
mother who watches over her son. It’s also a call for schools and libraries
to wake up to the dangers. We all must wake up. Cyber stalkers are lurking
for our children. We must take action now before it’s too late. Too many kids
have already become victims. Now is the time to combat it before it becomes
too late. Dialog with an
Atheist – Part IV of V
John,
We have come full circle and are answering the same questions.
Divorce is bad and so is homosexuality. What is the source of right and wrong? The source of should and should not? What each person should or should not be doing? What is good and what is bad?
You began by asking how the Bible opposed homosexuality when you really believed the Bible to be a myth. It doesn't matter what Jesus did say or would say because you say He is a myth.
Your last statement is fascinating. "United States Citizens should not be held accountable to Civil Laws based upon a book of fiction." Do you really understand what you're saying? Without a common source for values or principles, every man does what is right in his own eyes. With that system of ethics, my opinion is no better than yours so we fight it out in the bar room (wild west style), in the voting booth, or in the legislature.
I always laugh when I see the bumper sticker, "If you don't like abortion, don't have one." Because there's one just like it, "If you don't like murder, don't kill someone." When human life and human relationships become mere opinion, when truth ceases to be self evident, history proves that “civil”ization ceases to be civil.
As Solomon once said, "All is vanity." But his conclusion was profound. "Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." But then, you say Solomon is a myth too. Alas, what is truth.
If you haven't heard the Good News, we can dialog further.
Mark Burton ----- Original Message ----- Here is the bottom line. We live in a country where it should not matter what religion one subscribes to relative to what rights a person has. Marriage or Civil unions should be open to everyone. You should apply this same energy to campaigning for health care for all Americans. What would Jesus say about that? I think he'd be more concerned about sick people going without care than he would seeing two men living in harmony. What if Jesus were Gay? You guys need to get your head out of the clouds and learn to LOVE one another. The so called institution of heterosexual marriage is not leading by example. Christians stand before God and swear "till death do us part" but it's OK to divorce and do it again, and again, and again. You have a way to rationalize everything. Face it, religion is based on myth. Its purpose is to control behavior. Your religion is not right, nor wrong, it's simply a belief system. Just like the HUNDREDS of other religions on the planet. United States Citizens should not be held accountable to Civil Laws based upon a book of fiction. PERIOD. If you don't think gay marriage is right, then don't marry another man. It's simple. If you don't think abortion is for you, don't have one. But don't take the right of another away to pander to your belief. John |

surviving pages of the world's oldest Christian Bible have been reunited
online. The early work, known as the Codex Sinaiticus ("the book from
Sinai"), has been housed in four separate locations around the world for
more than 150 years. As of last week, it is now available for anyone to
peruse at the Web site www.codexsinaiticus.org,
allowing scholars and other readers to get a closer look at this unique
treasure. The only other Bible that rivals Codex Sinaiticus in age is Codex
Vaticanus, which was written around the same time, but lacks parts of the New
Testament. Codex Sinaiticus is the oldest book that contains a complete New
Testament and is only missing parts of the Old Testament and the Aprocrypha.
